FWML has seven pathologists on staff who provide medical directorship, understand physicians' needs, and contact physicians when questions arise. Our pathologists also provide consultations.

Robert Burkhart, MD

Surgical Pathology, Hematopathology
As Medical Director of anatomic pathology for Parkview Hospital, he is subspecialty board certified in hematopathology and board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. He is an Associate Clinical Professor for Indiana University School of Medicine Fort Wayne, graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School and served fellowships at Ball Memorial Hospital and Barnes Hospital.

Blandine Bustamante, MD

Surgical Pathology, Gynecological Pathology, Transfusion Medicine
A Diplomate of the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology, Dr. Bustamante is Medical Director of the Blood Center at Parkview Hospital. Her Area of subspecialty interest is obstetric gynecologic & perinatal patholgy. Dr. Bustamante received her MD from the Cornell University Medical College, in New York, and served her residency at Orlando Regional Medical Center and fellowship at Magee-Womens Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She serves as Assistant Clinical Professor at Indiana University Medical School, Fort Wayne.
Seung Soo Kim, MD
Surgical Pathology, Hematopathology
A Diplomate with the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Dr. Kim graduated from the Yonsei University College of Medicine in Seoul, Korea and served residency at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center, Columbia University, in New York, and at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Jersey Medical School where he also served as chief resident. He served his fellowship at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is an Associate Clinical Professor at Indiana University Medical School, Fort Wayne, and director of hematology at Parkview Hospital.

S. Sage Lee, MD, Ph.D.
Surgical Pathology, Cytology, Electron Microscopy, Renal Pathology
A Diplomate with the American Board of Pathology and board certified with the American Board of Cytopathology, she subspecializes in electron microscopy and cytology and serves as Associate Clinical Professor with Indiana University Medical School at Fort Wayne. She received her MD from the National Taiwan University College of Medicine, her Ph.D. from the University of Rochester New York, and served residencies at Strong Memorial Hospital and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She was also an NIH fellow in pathology. She is the president of the Fort Wayne Medical Society for 2001-2002.
R. Craig McBride, MD
Flow Cytometry, Microbiology, Surgical Pathology
The Laboratory Medical Director and Director of Flow Cytometry and Microbiology for Parkview Health Laboratories, he is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. He also serves as Associate Clinical Professor for Indiana University Medical School Fort Wayne Campus. He graduated from Indiana University Medical School in Indianapolis and completed his residency at the Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Florida.
Darryl R. Smith, MD
Clinical Chemistry, Surgical Pathology, Medial Education
The Director of Clinical Chemistry at Parkview Hospital, Medical Director of the Parkview Medical Technology School and Clinical Professor and Pathology Program Director at Indiana University Medical School Fort Wayne Campus, the medial director of the laboratories of Hicksville Community Hospital and Paulding County Hospital. He is also a fellow with the American Board of Pathology and board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. He received his MD from Ohio State University, served his post graduate training at Youngstown Hospital Association fellowships in tissue pathology at the Mayo Clinic and in clinical chemistry at the Medical College of Virginia.
Xiaoying Wan, MD
Surgical Pathology, Coagulation Pathology
A Diplomate with the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Dr. Wan received her MD from Beijing Medical University in China and served her residency a the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. As the newest member of Fort Wayne Medical Laboratory, Dr. Wan will also serve in Anatomic Pathology and as Director of Coagulation Pathology.
